Awarded Sporting Hotel of the Year at the 2016 Scottish Hotel Awards, Ballathie House and Estate is situated in the heart of Scotland, a few miles from Perth and within 30 minutes of some of the most prestigious sporting estates in Scotland.
Ballathie Estate dates back to the 17th century, with the current house being completed in 1886. Now a renowned 4 star hotel in private ownership of the Milligan family, Ballathie captures the tradition of a Country House Hotel with unique character and rare distinction, welcoming generations of sporting enthusiasts over the years. The hotel has an enviable location on the banks of the River Tay, with 53 bedrooms, many of which have river views, along with the award-winning restaurant. Numerous awards have been bestowed on both the Hotel and the Restaurant. Surrounded by an abundant larder of seasonal foods, Head Chef Scott Scorer aims to source the finest ingredients from the hotel’s gardens and cherry picks produce from Perthshire and further afield throughout Scotland to create a fresh Scottish twist on classic French cuisine. At Ballathie you will find luxurious accommodation in comfortable bedrooms, huge baths with unlimited hot water to relax in after a day of shooting, stalking or fishing. We know how to look after you very well and understand what is needed at the end of a great day of sport. The warmest of welcomes, drying areas and secure gun cupboards along with a welcoming warm spot for your hard working canine companion. A well stocked bar, exceptional wine list and fabulous food. We specialise in all types of country sporting and can liaise with local estates on your behalf to ensure a seamless easy contact for your Scottish sporting experience. Shooting: Driven or walked up days – 100–400 bird days, for up to 8 guns. We work with a few local estates to bring you an exceptional experience. John Cruickshanks has over 28 years’ experience in running his own shoot, Logiealmond, which is only 20 minutes from the hotel and offers over 25 drives, within 6000 acres of mixed mature woodland, gorges, glens and steep river banks. Driven days will produce a good bag of pheasant and partridge, whilst the more traditional walked up day will give a mixed bag of pheasant, partridge, duck, snipe, pigeon and rabbit. Deer Stalking: Can be arranged on neighbouring estates, just a short drive from the hotel. Traditional highland stalking with hill ponies in magnificent countryside, with experienced Stalkers. Fishing: Tay Salmon fishing is renowned the world over and Ballathie’s riverside setting is ideal for a fishing holiday in the Scottish Highlands. Ballathie’s own Ghillies – George and Gary – are on hand to guide you and share their local knowledge. Fishing for salmon is a privilege and can be done from boat with spin or fly. In addition to our own beats on the mighty Tay, we can arrange fishing on good still water lochs and other beats on the Tay, along with the Isla, Ericht and the Earn. Private Ghillies will always be provided.
