Situated in a magnificent setting, Lude Estate offers six holiday cottages and a shepherd’s hut with unsurpassed views high over the Vale of Atholl towards Blair Castle in the Cairngorms National Park.
Five cottages sit together with the shepherd’s hut at the ‘Tom of Lude’ (meaning Hill of Lude) and are superbly finished conversions of a previously working steading. Taken as one, sleeping 26 or as individual cottages, they are all warm and welcoming. They are ideal for a relaxing family break, a sporting weekend, a walker’s retreat, a romantic getaway or for wedding parties.
Each house has its own garden in which to sit and enjoy the views, and for the young wishing to let off steam, there is a grassed childrens’ play area at the back of the properties, perfect for kicking a ball about.
The properties are renovated to a high standard allowing for a cosy and comfortable stay. In addition each cottage has drying facilities for outdoor clothes and muddy boots!
The sixth cottage and latest renovation is Garden Cottage which is situated about a mile east of the Tom of Lude, next to the estate’s walled garden. It is a gorgeous house offering luxury, privacy, and equally beautiful views east and west of the Vale of Atholl.
As a family we are trying to be as environmentally friendly as we can be and with the use of our small hydroelectric scheme built in 1965, we manage to supply much of the estate’s requirements including the holiday cottages. In addition, the heating systems in the holiday cottages are Ground and Air Source heating (except The Farmhouse and Garden Cottage at present).
