Applications Now Open for the 2027 Fishing Season
Are you an experienced, professional Fishing Guide or Ghillie looking for opportunities during the 2027 fishing season in Scotland?
You Fish Scotland and TwinPeakes Fly Fishing are looking to build a network of knowledgeable, reliable and guest-focused guides and ghillies to work with visiting anglers from the UK and overseas across Scotland and the Scottish Highlands.
They are particularly interested in guides with experience in:
- Fly fishing
- Wild brown trout fishing
- Atlantic salmon fishing
- Sea trout and night fishing
- River and loch fishing
- Fly casting instruction
- Spey casting instruction
What they’re looking for
Applicants should have a strong knowledge of Scottish fishing and local waters, proven professional guiding or ghillie experience, excellent communication skills and a friendly, professional approach to working with guests.
Ideally, applicants will also have:
- Appropriate professional qualifications where applicable
- Current First Aid certification
- Child Protection certification
- Appropriate public liability insurance
- A good understanding of water safety, risk assessment, health and safety and guest welfare
- The ability to work independently and as part of a professional guiding team
- A full UK driving licence
Applications are particularly encouraged from qualified guides holding recognised professional qualifications such as SGAIC, FFI CI, FFI THCI, APGAI or AAPGAI. Other recognised and relevant professional guiding, coaching or fly-fishing qualifications will also be considered.
Opportunities for 2027
Successful applicants may be offered guiding opportunities based on their experience, qualifications, location, availability and areas of expertise.
Opportunities could include full and half-day guided fishing, fly-fishing instruction, Atlantic salmon fishing, wild brown trout fishing, sea trout and night fishing, Spey casting tuition, corporate groups and bespoke fishing experiences.
The aim is to develop a professional network that provides visiting anglers with knowledgeable guides, high standards of service and safe, memorable fishing experiences across Scotland.
Recruitment and selection
The recruitment, interview and selection process for the 2027 season will take place during November and December 2026 and January 2027.
Applicants should be prepared to provide details of their:
- Guiding and ghillie experience
- Professional qualifications and certifications
- First Aid and Child Protection certification
- Public liability insurance
- Fishing and guiding specialities
- Geographic operating area
- Availability for the 2027 season
- Professional references, where applicable
- Full UK driving licence
Suitable applicants will be invited to an interview, with successful candidates contacted regarding potential guiding opportunities for the 2027 fishing season.
