Kirnan Estate
At Kirnan Estate Stalking we manage over 16,500 acres of historic and diverse landscape in Kilmichael Glen, Argyll, offering fully guided deer stalking and wildlife experiences across open hill, forestry, and native woodland. Guests can stalk Red, Sika, and Roe deer while gaining insight into sustainable deer management, with opportunities tailored for both experienced stalkers and those looking to learn the fundamentals of stalking and field-to-fork venison.
The team at Kirnan Estate Stalking manages the deer on over 16,500 acres of some of Scotland’s most historic and picturesque landscape on the west coast of Scotland – all surrounding our base in Kilmichael Glen, Argyll.
We provide opportunities for customers to support our deer management objectives through fully guided deer stalking to harvest wild deer, as well as simulated deer stalking and guided photography and experiences. We are able to offer customers the opportunity to experience our management of Red, Sika and Roe deer across open hill, commercial forestry and native broadleaf environments. In fact, when deer stalking with Kirnan Estate you have the potential to stalk all three species and experience all three environments in the same day or multi-day trip, depending on the season, prevailing weather and our management objectives at the time. All the venison we harvest at Kirnan Estate Stalking is processed into the human food chain via our retail venison operation, supporting local restaurants and encouraging consumption by the public.
We are super passionate about supporting new participants in deer management. We can tailor our packages for those looking to gain their first experiences of deer stalking, through the provision of specific support and guidance. This includes range-based tuition, the theory behind stalking, deer identification and live field stalking, carcass processing and ‘field-to-fork’, helping you build your knowledge about deer and management practices. We have a dedicated rifle range on site at Kirnan that offers beginners the opportunity to refine skills in a low pressure environment.
Day or multi-day deer stalking and deer management experiences for individuals and groups of all experience levels. Kirnan Estate Stalking can offer exciting and immersive species specific opportunities for Red, Sika and Roe deer or clients can participate in our deer management packages as part of our annual culls.

Simulated deer stalking (no harvesting of an animal)
For individuals or groups looking to gain more experience or do not like the idea of harvesting a wild animal but want to understand the process of deer management in more detail, we offer simulated deer stalking experiences. This mimics the real deer stalking experience but without the killing of a deer, instead shooting at metal reactive deer targets within real-world stalking scenarios.
Guests will spend time on the rifle range before being guided by one of our Deer Managers around the simulated stalking scenarios. Using this as an opportunity to share their insights on our local deer herds, gives you a unique insight into the deer management practices we follow at Kirnan Deer Stalking.
