Opening of the 2018 Grouse Season
Unfortunately many moors have cancelled their early days due to a poor breeding season. There may still be some shooting later in the year.
However SCSTG, in association with ‘The Gift of Grouse’, held an opening day grouse shoot in Perthshire on 13 August. Members of the press and TV were invited to what was a very enjoyable and in some cases memorable morning’s grouse shooting. The party consisted of 3 lady guns, 2 young guns and an older gun, along with 3 dog handlers and a couple of beaters. The media were shown that grouse shooting is both accessible and affordable to all. Articles and images featured in the majority of the UK press (see articles in the Scottish Field and the Daily Mail) and on STV news, including an interview with Tim Baynes and 14 year old Angus Turnbull who not only shot his first grouse but also managed a right and left for an unforgettable brace. Well done Angus!
