Wild Fowling
Wildfowling in Scotland can be categorised by two main areas - inland and foreshore. Shooting on the foreshore (estuaries and coastal marshes below the level of the high tide) – wildfowling - is not for the faint-hearted.
Wildfowling is a sport requiring considerable stamina and patience during the winter months in wet, muddy and often cold conditions. This provides a true hunting challenge for the sportsman. An intimate knowledge of this wild and dangerous area of the coast or a suitably trained guide is a prerequisite to this sport.
The inexperienced wildfowler can easily be cut off from the land by the twice-daily tides or become disorientated by the sudden descent of fog.
