Beginners Welcome
Country Sports activities can be enjoyed by everyone. Whatever your age, gender or ability, there are more opportunities today for people who want to get involved in country sports than ever before.
Don’t think that you can’t participate just because you’re unsure of what to do… Providers of sport are more attuned to the needs of beginners today and will try to help you develop your skills and confidence.
Much of sport in Scotland is guided. By this we mean that you as the visitor will be accompanied by either a Fishing Ghillie, Deer Stalker or Gamekeeper depending on the activity you are participating in. Their presence is part of taking a day’s sport much of the time, however there is still a wide range of activities that can be undertaken on one’s own without a guide if a more solitary experience is sought, as is possible with many of the fishing activities. Fishing Ghillies, Professional Deer Stalkers and Gamekeepers are there to assist you, make sure that safety is upheld at all times to help you enjoy your day by attempting to give you the best day’s sport possible.
Independent (not employed by the sporting estate) guides are also available for most of the sporting activities. Their details can often be found in trade magazines and by asking at your local fishing tackle/gun shop who should be able to help.
